Every life-size R2-D2 that leaves our studio in İzmir starts with the same question from the collector: do I want him to stand there, or do I want him to move? Both answers are right – they just lead to different droids. This guide walks through the choice the way we walk through it with customers on a video call.

The Statue: a screen-accurate display piece

The Statue is R2 at rest. Life-size (107 × 75 × 65 cm, about 28 kg), cast in high-density 8K resin and polystone with CNC-cut metal parts, and finished in a clean factory-new paint. It has the full screen-accurate LED system and 120+ movie-accurate sounds through onboard speakers, controlled from a standard controller. Arms, dome and panels are hand-posable, so you set the pose you love and it stays that way.

Choose the Statue if the droid lives in a display room, an office lobby or a home cinema where it will be seen far more than it will be driven. It is also the lighter and simpler unit to maintain – there are no drive motors, so there is nothing to service.

Remote Controlled: the droid that actually works

The Remote Controlled R2 has everything the Statue has, plus the full drive system: it rolls on its own motors, turns its dome, opens its panels and moves its arms – all from the mini R2-themed remote. Every V5 unit also ships with our Exhibition Modes at no extra cost: sensor-driven, hands-free routines where R2 reacts to people around him without anyone holding the controller.

Choose Remote Controlled if you want R2 to greet guests, roam an event floor or simply come alive on demand. It is the base for the AI kits too: Voice, Vision and Full Autonomy need the motors to do their best work.

Finished in our studio, or a DIY kit?

Both models are available as a Fully Finished unit – assembled, wired, painted and tested here – or as a DIY Kit: every cast part plus all the electronics (and motors, on the RC kit), delivered unassembled and unpainted with an assembly guide.

The kit is for builders. If the idea of sanding, priming and painting a life-size droid over a few weekends sounds like joy rather than work, the kit gives you that journey and saves you a meaningful amount of money. Statue builders who already have their own electronics can even take the kit as cast parts only.
